The Selection Process.
One of the major functions of EADA is to select couples to represent
England at International competitions.
Couples are chosen based on the chart position on the day the
invite is recieved from the organiser.
The invite is recieved.
The invite is date stamped and the couple at the top of the chart
that day are sent an invitation. They then have a set time period
in which to respond.
If after this period, including ‘chasing’ by the
EADA office, if a couple either declines the invite, or does
not respond, then the next couple on the list will be invited.
They then have the same time period in which to respond.
Once the couple has accepted the invitation in writing, the EADA
office informs the event organiser. This information is also
passed to the travel coordinator to help organise flights, and
the webmaster for inclusion on the site.
The next couple on the list are also invited to be ‘first
reserve’ so that if the competitors have to withdraw at
the last minute, we have a couple waiting on standby to be sent
instead.
Once the closing date for the competition is passed, it is often
difficult if not impossible to change the entry. For this reason
it is
important to get responses from invited couples as soon as possible,
and it is vital that couples avoid withdrawing from the competition
after accepting.
Any withdrawl after accepting the invite may now be referred
to the disciplinary commitee and the couple involved will be
asked to justify their actions. This is important, as withdrawing
after accepting can affect the chances of another couple to go
in their stead.
Obviously the office tries very hard to contact couples, and it
is imperative that we get responses to the invitations (yes
OR no) as soon as is possible. It is therefore very important
that we have the correct contact details, and where possible
include mobile phone numbers.
