Classical (Old-time) dancing
Classical dances are primarily dances which were popular prior to WW1. Every couple dances the same steps at the same time usually to 16 bar sequences. Today, it includes not only the authentic Old Time style but also many dances and sequences based upon Ballroom and Latin techniques. These new dances are being invented by professional dance teachers and entered in new dance competitions throughout the year. There are approximately 50 new dances each year. It appeals to all age groups and out of all the forms of social dance today, is probably one of the most popular.
