EADA Chart Rated Events for 2007

On 5th August the Charts Committee met to chose the competitions that will be granted Chart Rated Status for 2007.
The Chart Committee is made up of all those on the council who are active competitors and The President, Secretary, Treasurer and Parent Rep.

The task for the day is to select competitions for each category, and get an even spread of competitions both in terms of geography and throughout the year. Also, they set the parameter that where possible, the number of chart rated events would be limited at any one competition, and also tried to ensure that competitors who may do more than one chart would not find they had to chose because of clashing venues.

The committee had to assign 126 CREs not only taking into account those parameters, but also the views of the membership and trying to ensure that Chart Rated events are high quality events for all those attending.

This task is almost impossible and there are some ‘gaps’ and other issues, but this was the best compromise that we could come to. It would be very easy to find fault, very difficult to suggest a better alternative that works!

For the first time this year we had the benefit of a full year’s worth of information from the feedback forms. We had 29 completed forms that were taken into consideration, we also looked at comments from the previous year for potential repeat offenders. More of these please for next year – keep sending them in!

Some competitions that had negative feedback have been granted CRE’s but we have made sure these comments have been addressed.

For example:
WSM - For 2007 year we have allocated a Senior event for Saturday and Juvenile & Junior events for Sunday. The Promoter has organised for a pro couple to provide the demonstration on Saturday night thus avoiding last year's issue.

Birmingham - We have reduced the number of events allocated, with only 1 Senior Latin at the Albany to take into account the size of the floor.

Stoke - The promoter has promised to drastically reduce the number of supporting events, we have allocated only 2 CREs - Juv Latin & Amateur Latin. Confirmation of these events will be accompanied with a strong recommendation to the promoter that all Juvenile/ Junior events are finished by 4pm.

Bristol and Felixtowe – in both cases, complaints were received about size/shape of floor. Both promoters will be holding the events at new venues with “very large floors”.

Southport - for 2007 we have not allocated any 10 Dance events to this promoter.

Once we have the official and final list, we will update the website with the dates.
