Press Release
Peter
Maxwell To Step Down As Grand Slam Chair,
Increase His Work For
IDJTA
The eminent DanceSport professional Mr. Peter Maxwell,
of England and Monaco, has informed IDSF President Carlos Freitag
of his decision that, effective January 1, 2007, he will relinquish
his duties as IDSF Grand Slam Series Chairman.
Mr. Maxwell is
convinced that it is important at this time to dedicate more
of his energy to the many challenges facing Dance Sport worldwide,
and that "to that end my work as Managing Director of the
International Dancesport Judges & Trainers Association (IDJTA)
requires even more attention and effort, making attendance at
all the Grand Slam events a little difficult."
At the same
time, Mr. Maxwell and IDJTA have reconfirmed their continued
commitment to cooperate closely with IDSF on the Grand Slam Series
and on many other vital issues in DanceSport.
"Having been
involved with the launch and success of the world's most successful
DanceSport series for three years and been instrumental in establishing
the highest standards, it is, perhaps, time to move on," he
said. Mr. Maxwell has also asked IDSF to extend his thanks to
all Competitors, Judges, Organisers and Officials who have made
his tenure as Chairman such a great pleasure and honour over
the past three years.
IDSF wishes to publicly express its gratitude
to Mr. Maxwell for his enormous help and prodigious contribution
to the Grand Slam Series, which under his Chairmanship has enjoyed
the highest level of international success. "We are also
deeply grateful that Mr. Maxwell has chosen not to take a well-deserved
rest, but rather to rededicate himself to IDJTA's ongoing work
with IDSF, by taking on more work to ensure IDJTA's growth and
continuing success," said President Freitag in a statement
in Barcelona today.
