Boxwich -
a report

A great competition,
a great day and an early finish. You can't say that too often
but today you could.
I think everyone who attended the competition today would join
me in saying a big well done and thank you to the organisers
and the team of judges, the scrutineer's and the fabulous Paul
Fielding for the music.
It was an early start for us mere southerners but well worth
it. We were treated to some fabulous dancing from the juveniles
and juniors and then the youth and amateur dancers before leaving.
The turnout in the younger dancers was low but as this is the
summer holidays for the kids it was to be expected but I bet
the organisers didn't even expect the amount of couples that
flooded the floor for the amateur ballroom event. The children
who had graced us in the morning were in their awe as they watched
and you could virtually see them aspiring to what they could
achieve if they put in the hard work.
The youth field looked very strong today with some of the countries
top ex-junior competitors flowing around in front of us. How
grown up they all looked and how their dancing had seemed to
mature overnight.
Our fabulous judges for the day were; Robert Bellinger, David
Douglas, Janet Frowen, Barbara Litchfield, Derrick Squires, Donald
Young and Nigel Horrocks as the chairman. They all did a fantastic
job.
