NSC Age Range changes for 2007
Background
As you may be aware for a number of years the age ranges used
within the UK have been different to that used abroad which has
often disadvantaged our English couples when selection is made
for World and European Championships. EADA are therefore most
grateful to the British Dance Council for their co-operation
in the granting of rule 9b in order to help to create a level
playing field for all our couples dancing internationally.
Following this rule change EADA have decided to broadly introduce
the same age ranges as used by the IDSF, to this end from 1st
January 2007 all EADA Ballroom & Latin NSC’s will be
run under the following age ranges:
-
Juvenile: have not reached their 12th birthday on the date of
the competition
- Junior : reach 12th / 13th / 14th / 15th birthday in the calendar
year
- Youth: eldest child have reached their 15th birthday on the date
of the competition or reach 16th , 17th and 18th birthday
in the calendar year
youngest child have reached their 14th birthday on the date
of the competition or reach 15th, 16th , 17th or 18th
birthday in the calendar year
- Adult: eldest competitor to reach 16th birthday or more
in the calendar year
youngest competitor to have reached their 14th birthday
or more on the date of the competition
- Senior I: both competitors reach 35th birthday or more in the
calendar year
- Senior II: both competitors reach 45th birthday or more in the
calendar year
Notes:
- Juveniles who reach their 12th
birthday in the calendar year may choose to continue to
dance in the Juvenile section
until
their 12th birthday (as in accordance with
BDC Rule 5(a)), or dance as a Junior – they must however
seek permission of EADA before competing.
- Any Juvenile who wishes to dance with a Junior Partner in Junior
NSC they must apply for the necessary permission
from EADA.
- Once a competitor has danced in a Junior NSC with an older partner
they cannot under any circumstances revert
to Juvenile (BDC rule 5(c) to apply)
- Couples who elect to dance in Junior NSC may not revert back
to Juvenile NSC.
- Any Junior competitor who wishes
to dance Youth NSC’s
must apply to the membership secretary
for the necessary permission
prior to competing in any NSC
- Couples who elect to dance in Youth NSC may not revert back to
Junior NSC.
- Senior couples may also compete in amateur events if they so
wish.
- In Senior both partners must be
born in the year given or earlier
- Once a competitor has competed in Youth
or Amateur NSC he/she may not, in any circumstances, revert
to junior NSC competitions but must remain in the higher age group (BDC rule
8b(i) to apply)
Viennese Waltz
Viennese Waltz must be included in all Senior 2 Ballroom
events as the third dance. Juvenile NSC will continue
to be a 4 dance event and exclude the Viennese Waltz
Programme Scheduling
Promoters are requested to schedule the Youth competitions
as early as possible within the adult
section of the programme due
to fact a large proportion of these
competitors are under 18 and therefore of school / college
age.
