Egham Training Day for Novice to Pre - Champ.
First, we need a better title for this event, it doesn't exactly flow now does it? Luckily the day was better than the title. The morning session was with Alex and Lisa, recently turned pro, and already the UK Closed Professional Latin Champions.

This couple gave us a splendid two hours looking at "Presentation in Latin". First in depth at Rumba. How to get the 'oily' rumba movement with proper use of the hips, and how to present with arm movements being generated by the body. They also looked at jive and gave some useful exercises in how to create the correct jive action - exercises that we will certainly be practicing from now on.

The afternoon was split between two great teachers , first Carol Powell who gave some marvelous tips on Ballroom Connection. She gave advice on ways to approach the hold to allow for maximum freedom of movement and how to place the body weight to remove the awkward movement sometimes seen on the comp floor.

Lorraine Drolet then carried the theme forward explaining how to maximise freedom of movement and what is meant by that term. She explained the importance of swing and sway, and the difference between them. Then she gave some very useful advice on what judges are looking for fin terms of presentation from competitors. If you are wondering what that is, you should have come to the seminar!

On behalf of EADA, we would like to thank all the teachers for a great series of lectures which were very well received by those that attended.
