Grand Finals Blackpool 2007
What a blast we had. Only just recovering from the British Nationals,
we were back in Blackpool the following weekend for an action packed
couple of days.

The wind was howling but this did not deter the hundreds of children,
teachers and judges from making their way to the Tower Ballroom
to start the first day of competition.
The Saturday is set aside for the Juvenile and Junior dancers and
boy is there a wealth of talent out there. Split into two sections,
non qualifiers and qualifiers,
the morning started at an hour when most of you were still in the land of nod.
I looked from the balcony and had to do a double take….was this really
the children who hadn’t qualified throughout the year. The standard of
these young dancers was phenomenal and the children who had qualified were still
to make their entrance.
From the under 6’s to the Junior Awards dancers we were awarded the pleasure
of watching excellent technique and superb grooming.

The following day was for the adults and again we were in for a real treat. There
was a great mix of those who had just out grown their junior shoes and those
who were simply divine and elegant in their latter years. The routines shown
throughout the day and the costumes worn were fitting for each and every age
group.

The whole competition was arranged and organised by Nicky Miles and Richard Hunt
and of course The Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing. My eternal thanks
go out to both of them and their families for making this competition the most
fun throughout the whole dancing calendar.
