A competition that is run by Martin Cutler and David
Trueman could be nothing
less than a recipe for success, and they didn't let us down.
In fact guys I think you will need to find a larger venue next
year.
The smooth running and timing of the events meant that even us
on the south coast were home well before the carriage turned back
into a pumpkin. A huge thanks go out to the both of you.

I put their success down to good planning and the fact that pre
entry was requested where ever possible, so most of the couples
were accounted for before the day
began. Of course there were a few that could not pre register and that did upset
the timing a bit but not enough to make people leave before their event was called.
We were able to go in, find a seat, take time to prepare, enjoy the juniors and
juveniles dancing and literally pick up our pre determined numbers. The atmosphere
was relaxed and most enjoyable. The main events of the day were the EADA Youth
modern, the EADA Senior 10 dance and both modern and Latin EADA Senior II competitions.
What made this day extra special was the mixing of the numbers from dance to
dance so that the heats were equal and balanced, a format that worked very well
and I think would be appreciated by all competitors if adopted by other organisers.
There was a tremendous turn out for all the events with 19 couples entered for
the amateur modern and 16 couples for the youth. In the senior events we had
no less than 11 couples.

The morning was taken up by the juniors and juveniles and even the loss of an
hours sleep, because of the clock changes, could not stop these young couples
from giving 100% in their performances. We had two sets of double winners - David
and Kelsey in the juveniles and Jonas with Sasha in the Juniors. There was great
dancing from all the couples that took part.

The adult section started with the Youth EADA modern section which was won by
Kyle and Jourdan with Jack and Egle coming a very close second place. The amount
of talent that graced the floor was awe inspiring and to see most of these couples
go on to compete in the Amateur competitions was fabulous.
My favorite event of the day had to be the Senior 10 dance, won by Martin and
Elaine. They had agility, speed and passion. It is very satisfying when you see
a performance that overflows with confidence and enjoyment and this exactly what
I saw in all of the couples.
Our judges for the day were; Lisa Bellinger-Ivanets, Alan Ford, Gary Foster,
Izabella Hannah, Adrian Pritchard, Snieguole Wood and the chairman was Nigel
Horrocks.
As far as competitions go this was second to none and one that will certainly
be in my diary for next year. |
