ANTI-DOPING
by Keith Hately
It may have taken it's time getting here but it is now here with
a vengence. Following the unfortunate results last year for
dancers taking performance enhancers and more latterly of the
cyclists in the Tour de France it must surely not come as a
surprise for this year to be one of those years for examples
to be made. Both WADA and IDSF are almost certain to take a
more active role in each of in and out of competition testing.
So if you are thinking of getting more from your dancing by
taking any enhancers, DON'T, because you will be found out
and it would have an effect on others even if they were innocent.
If you have already travelled that route it is to late for
you because you will also be on the banned list, and your competition
days are over for some time.
For those people that have to take medication it is not a problem.
All you have to do is fill in a T.U.E. (Theraputic Use Exemption)
form which can either be
downloaded from UK Sport website or obtained from EADA.
The people most likely to be tested are the dancers who are most likely to dance
for England so these will be the ones that will start the ball rolling for monitoring.
It will mean a little bit of paperwork if we take charge of this ourselves or
we can go on line with UK Sport. If we decide to go with UK Sport there will
be more chance of testing as we will be linked with the bad boys and girls of
Doping.
AT ALL TIMES CONFIDENTIALITY WILL BE OBSERVED but the system is such that there
isn't any need for anything to be disclosed that could give rise for concern.
