Stephen and Jennie Hillier at Egham

Team photo with Stephen and Jennie

You may remember the report last year on the initiative to form a club that meets for finals training.

This Club is now in its third term and is going from strength to strength. Last week, it hosted an evening with Stephen Hillier and his wife Jennie who were invited to attend as guest coaches to work on "performance".

Some of the couples in action in the Semi

The evening took on the same format as usual. Warm up followed by solo dances then quarter final, semis then final . All dances lasting about three minutes (apart from one quick step that I swear felt more like10!)

In between the heats, Stephen and Jennie gave their opinions on the performances, both generally to the group and individually. The couples would then try to implement the advice given in the next round.

The scrutiny of the judges!

Dancing under the close scrutinity of two such respected dancers was the closest the club has come to competition conditions, Dan Baxter commented that it was clear that the dancers were all trying harder.

Be afraid Piero - Tracey tries out with a new partner!

More helpful advice

A real "team spirit" is developing in the club, with all dancers supporting each other. Afterwards, all agreed that it had been a very beneficial but tiring experience.

more guest coaches will be organised in the furture.

if you want info on joining this team, or would like to set up something similar near where you live, get in touch
