Blackpool Dance Festival for Juniors 2007

It is Easter Monday; it is time for the 2007 British Junior Dance Festival to start! This extremely popular international event takes place at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool with this year’s Festival made extra special as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

For a week, couples coming from all over the world will be representing their country in the great number of events taking place every day. Being able to take part in this dancing tournament is an amazing and unforgettable experience.

The true international character of this Festival is seen in the ever increasing number and variety of entries (250+ in the Junior events) from as far as Australia, South Africa, USA and Israel. Almost every European country is also represented with the Eastern countries having the greater number of couples, in particular Russia and Ukraine.

Approaching Blackpool Tower for the first time that week, you can feel so much excitement and hope in everyone. Having passed the front door and made your way up the stairs and through the corridors, you stand avidly waiting for the doors of the Tower Ballroom to open. At last, they do; your heart races faster as you enter this stunningly beautiful Ballroom hall; then it is time to hurry to find a good place to admire the excellent dancing that would be displayed.

Most British Juvenile & Junior couples taking part are hoping to get one or two recalls with our top ranking Juveniles & Juniors aiming to reach the quarterfinal, hopefully the semi finals and rarely a final. 2007 has been a fine year with a number of Juvenile couples reaching quarter finals, semi finals and 2 couples reaching a couple of finals and a number of Junior couples reaching quarter finals.

This dance festival is also the host for the Junior & Juvenile Team Matches which are highly contested. 2007 sees our Junior team reaching 4th place and our Juvenile team winning the event.
