Dance
Improvement Evening
Report / Photos by Andrew
August 22nd saw another dance improvement evening at the Egham
Sports
Centre this time the guest coach was Mrs Susan Walker.

After the usual 20 minute warm up session the couples moved in
to the main hall.
The first dance to be worked on was the Waltz, after all the couples
had taken to the floor and danced their routines everyone gathered
into a group for general comments and suggestions on improving
the dance.

The main comment regarding improvement was to do with the size
of step one being too big thus causing the body to be back weighted
thereby reducing the amount of swing on step two.
The second dance tackled was Foxtrot and the main problem seemed
to be musicality and interpretation of timing.
The next dance to be tackled was Tango again the couples took to
the floor to dance their routines.

Once everyone had gathered in the group for comments, the main
point of discussion was the top line and not leading with the right
shoulder, the couples then went back on the floor to correct the
positioning with some one to one hands on work from Susan

The evening finished off with some work on the Quickstep, and by
this time everyone was well and truly worn out, but most people
seemed to have enjoyed the evening. |
