back to news The Senior Latin World Championships 10 Feb 2007 The Senior Latin World Championships were held in Antwerp last Saturday organised in his usual impeccable style by Hubert de Maesschalck The venue was a sports hall just outside the city and unlike we are used to with events running late they were actually running early!!! Martyn & Elaine Long and Mark Powell & Kim Parsons were are representatives and the standard was the highest for many years. Mark & Kim, in their first worlds came an excellent 15th with Martyn & Elaine coming 28th . The event was retained by Petr Bartunek - Eva Bartunkova from the Czech Republic who announced their retirement following their win In addition to the Worlds there were a number of supporting IDSF competitions In the IDSF SeniorII Ballroom we had Richard & Jennie Funell (10th) and Steve & Tina Holes (65th) In the IDSF Amateur Latin we had Stephan Green & Zeudi Zanetti (29th) In the IDSF Senior I Latin we had Martyn & Elaine (19th), Steve & Tina (31st) Michael Brown & Katie Williams (32nd) Unfortunately Steve & Sue Witherington were unable to dance as Sue was unwell, however they provided the team with great support on the Saturday as did Donald & Melanie Young on the Sunday who danced in the Professional Ballroom Hubert has another competition in October in Liege where the SeniorII Worlds will be held and if you fancy doing an IDSF and supporting our Worlds team this is certainly one to go to.
