Dance Olympiad 2008 Salou, Spain

Well it is with great pleasure for me to bring back some pictures from the IDSF World Ballroom Championship in Spain where George and Charlotte and Richie and Clara represented England on the 3rd of May and also decided to compete in the International Latin Championship the day before the world event

..But first we would like to thank our Team Captain David Douglas for all his hard work at this busy IDSF event and making sure that the kids only had to concentrate on their dancing on both days!!

The 2 best Junior couples from 34 different countries were sent to compete in this world event with the first round at 9am, it was an early start for all!!

Some familiar faces could be recognise from the Junior Blackpool festival and our friend "Chris" from Australia came to say I !

Our Team Captain was then very busy to find out in which different heats we had to dance, unlike competitions in the UK you will not dance your 5 dance in the same heat, the IDSF will decide your heats in advance!

On the world Ballroom competition Richie and Clara finished 51st and George and Charlotte 53rd.

On the International Latin competition George and Charlotte finished 12th and Richie and Clara 13th.

This competition was probably the best dancing experience that we ever had, with a great venue that we could reach by walking distance from our accommodation or arranged bus.
We also had dancing for England in the IDSF European Latin Alejandro Hernandez with Kerri-Anne Donaldson, and Gregor Rebula with Lisa Darby!

We also had many other type of dancing, watch this one!

The town of Salou was great with lots to do and see and with the superb weather on offer we could enjoy walks, shops and the beach!
