Horsham
Report submitted by Pat
The
comp. began slowly with a small Latin entry but those that
did dance
had a good support from the audience who gave a warm welcome to
couples
dancing at Horsham for the first time, at Novice, Intermediate
and Snr
Pre-Champ levels.
With the arrival of the Ballroom dancers the
room began
to buzz. There was plenty of practise time and super music.
As the
events got under way it was clear that the dancers were there to
enjoy the
day and this created a great atmosphere. Again there were entries
at most
levels and age groups and it was especially good to see the novice
and
intermediate events and to see couples who were dancing at Horsham
for the
first time.
The amateur event was very competitive and the audience
loved
it. The highlight of the day was the 'dance off' which took place
for the
Jimmy James Championship Senior event, Chairman David Trueman announced
that
this is a rare occurrence and that two couples had an absolute
tie for first
place with equal marks from the judges. With an electric atmosphere
the
couples took to the floor with much support from the audience.
A really
unusual day, at a well run and organised competition, with lovely
dancing
and great music which was not cut short, so the dancers had plenty
of time
on the floor to display their skill. Congratulations to Jeanette
Winter,
her support team and the Judging panel. |
