EADA
Senior Training Day 08 March 2008
Ten senior couples took part in the EADA Senior Modern Training
Day at Egham Leisure Centre on 08 March 2008. The first part of
the programme comprised a workshop with Benoit Drolet on the subject
of how to maintain good posture and togetherness whilst generating
maximum power and flight across the floor. Benoit presented very
carefully two key postures – ‘fwd and left’ and ‘back
and right’ - that are fundamental foundations for good togetherness.
He also described a principal of delaying the movement of the moving
leg in order to generate maximum power. He illustrated these principles
with plenty of exercises and applied them to figures such as natural
turn, fallaway slip pivot and tipple chasse.
After the lunch break, the second part of the programme was a workshop
with Vicky Barr on the subject of the Lady’s Contribution.
She provided a wealth of detailed information in a lecture style
format with five points from the lady’s point of view, eight
possible relative positions of the man and lady’s bodies
and an expertly delivered demonstration of how correct use of legs
and feet is essential to avoid bumping between the bodies. However,
she also explained some key practical points such as that good
body contact is automatic if both partners individually maintain
good posture, and that it is the man’s responsibility to
change body positions by adjustment of his own body, rather than
by trying to reposition the lady by use of his arms.
A big thank you to Benoit and Vicky for some great teaching, and
to EADA from us all for organising an enjoyable day.
